NIBS C.E.O recently hosted a delegation from International Computer Driving License recently in her office. The delegation was led by the ICDL General Manager (Africa) - Mr Seasus Mc Ginely and Mr. Etdinck Mutinda who is the Country Manager-Kenya.
During the meeting, NIBS College was commended for its initiative towards the digitalization process. It was also noted that the college registered the largest pass rate of 2200 students out of the 2700 who sat for the ICDL examinations last year.
The delegation made a tour around the college and was impressed by the immense training infrastructure that NIBS had in place to guarantee quality training.
ICDL is a registered name of the European Computer Driving License Foundation Limited which is the world’s leading computer skills certification. The annual ICDL forum was held for the third time on 23rd October 2015 at Intercontinental Hotel Nairobi.
The guest of honor was the foundation CEO Mr. Damien O’sullivian(from ICDL headquarters in Ireland in Europe). He gave a presentation which focused on the mission of ICDL foundation as a social enterprise. Over 80 delegates were in attendance to hear updates on the ICDL programme from around the world.
The forum is an opportunity to bring together key stakeholders in the ICT sector as well as Accredited Test Centre staff from across Kenya. It was a chance to look forward for opportunities that lie ahead in the years to come and discuss on how best to work together to increase the level of digital literacy in Africa.
The General Manager in Africa Mr. Seamus McGininley gave a presentation on the achievements of ICDL Africa in
the previous year. Mr. Etinick Mutinda is the country Manager and Dr. Dorcas Omukhulu is the assistant Director Tech
nical Education, TVET (Technical Vocational Education and Training) Authority gave a presentation of the new authority.
The forum concluded with the much coveted ATC (Accredited Test Centre) Awards, presented by the ICDL foundation CEO. The awards recognize the hard work and commitment of Accredited Test Centres in the previous year across a range of categories. The first award was presented to Nairobi Institute of Business Studies and Mr. Benard Mbugua the acting Head of Department presented the school. The award was named as the ‘OUTSTANDING INITIATIVE AWARD’
