NIBS' School of Business Studies today played host to one of the Directors of the Higher Educations Loans Board, Mr.Mwenda Thibiri. The long serving civil servant who has also been a Commissioner to the Electoral Commission of Kenya delivered his key note Lecture on 'Business Feasibility Study'.The organizers of the much anticipated lecture had the objective of encouraging the students to develop a Financial Discipline as well as have an entrepreneurial mind set. The students were encouraged to approach their studies especially on entrepreneurship and Business Plans, from an informed point of view. Others in attendance were the General Manager NIBS College,Ikenye Ben, the Head of Academic Affairs Mr. Munene and his deputy Mr. Mworia as well as other lecturers from the School of Business Studies.
The 1,760 candidates were taken through rehearsals in the morning session by KNEC Officials. According to theThe Kenya National Examinations Councilthis is will be the largest center nationally. The officials emphasized the need to maintain the academic discipline in tandem with the Examination Policy. Later in the day, the candidates had a prayer session led by of Palm of The Gilead Church-Ruiru. Her key note address centered on character and encouraged the students to always seek to have a stronger character since the College had a good name regionally. She also took the opportunity to wish all the candidates success. Others in attendance were the Administration Manager-Allan Njenga, Chief Head of Academics,Jeremiah Munene, and other Academic Heads of departments. Principal / CEOLizzie Muthoni Wanyoikealso made a cameo appearance and wished the candidates success in the exams. Also present was Rahab Gichengo , the reigning Miss Tourism, Nakuru County who was also crowned Miss NIBS in 2015. Rahab is also a former Hospitality students at NIBS College
A cross section of students from the NIBS' Journalism department yesterday visited the GBS Television Network for a facility visit to familiarize themselves with the intricacies and intrigues surrounding TV Production. The students met individually with the TV Personnel and gained exposure to the facilities used for TV production.
Essentially, such trips gives students an opportunity to learn from media personnel and make connections in the field that can help them secure internships and jobs in the future.
